The Best Time to Visit Cape Cod Is Up to You!

The Summer Season in Cape Cod

The summer months are the busiest time on the Cape, but for good reason! The weather is always fantastic, with temperatures ranging from the 60s to the 80s in July and August. This comfortable, warm weather makes it the perfect time to enjoy a beach day or outdoor activity!

There are so many ways to spend the day outdoors. Hiking, biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and windsurfing are just some of the ways you can spend a day trip under the sun. You can also enjoy some of the best Cape Cod events like the Summer Concert Series in Martha’s Vineyard

Summer is also the most delicious time of the year, with many types of local produce and seafood in season.

The Spring Season in Cape Cod

Avoid the crowds when you visit during the shoulder season. May and June are great times for a spring getaway! The weather is a little chilly, but not bad at all! By June, the average high can reach up to the 70s.

Springtime is the time when everything starts to come back to life. Shops reopen, flowers bloom, whale watching season begins, and, of course, Treehouse Lodge opens back up!

April through June is also perfect for outdoor recreation, so go for a bike ride at the Shining Sea Bikeway for a perfect day outside.

Just keep in mind that long weekends like Memorial Day Weekend bring in large crowds to the Cape, so plan accordingly!

The Fall Season in Cape Cod

There’s still time for outdoor exploration in September and October before the colder months. Admire the gorgeous fall foliage as the leaves turn bright orange, red, and yellow all over New England.

Athletes race to Cape Cod in the fall because it’s home to some of the best marathons for runners. Come for the Cape Cod Challenge Half Marathon in September or the Cape Cod Marathon in October.

The Winter Season in Cape Cod

It can be pretty chilly during the winter months, so it’s not very busy on Cape Cod during November and December. However, you can attend some fun events around town, including a Christmas stroll.

The downside of coming during the winter is that you can’t spot any whales as whale watching season in Cape Cod is from April through October. If you do visit during whale watching season, make sure to check out our Thar She Blows special for a 30% discount on a whale-watching cruise!
