Running Events in Falmouth
4. Falmouth Road Race
More than 11,000 athletes race to Cape Cod in August for the Falmouth Road Race in Woods Hole. Registration begins in May for the seven-mile race, and nonresidents of Falmouth must go through a random selection to run. There are also age and pace requirements to participate, so make sure you’re eligible!
5. Cape Cod Marathon Half and Cape Cod Marathon
In October, make a run for the Cape Cod Marathon Half or the Cape Cod Marathon! The half marathon is a great way to catch the perfect view of the Falmouth area, as this scenic route gives you an outstanding view of Martha’s Vineyard and N
antucket Sound. The best part: both events provide tons of goodies in your race entry fee. They include a T-shirt, swag bag, a picture at the finish line, apple cider donuts, a Hot Clam Chowdah station, and so much more! Put your game face on, because you’ll compete with nearly 2,000 trained athletes in the half marathon and 1,000 in the full marathon.
6. Annual Strawberry Festival
Falmouth used to be a famous location for strawberries, with huge meadows of this juicy crop leading down to the ocean’s edge and restaurants from Boston to New York bragging about the juicy fresh Falmouth berries. While most of the strawberry fields are gone now (replaced with Cape Cod homes built like crazy in the ’40s & ’50s), the Strawberry Festival remains, a vestige of a simpler time. In a charming gathering under a huge tent, you will find well-priced lobster rolls, strawberry shortcakes, hot dogs, face painting, attic treasures and more. And just down Main Street, the Arts Alive Festival rocks out the same weekend with live music, crafts, artists, and much more.
